| history

The Reeves Theatre was built in 1941 and borrows from Art-Deco architectural influence. Originally a movie house and then a movie theatre, the locale was dear to many who grew up in Elkin, North Carolina. After The Reeves fell into a state of disrepair after years of neglect, the community came together to save the historic site.

[When The Reeves went up for sale in 2013] three long-time Elkin residents decided to buy it and turn it into a live music venue. Employing and partnering with as many local craftspeople and manufacturers as possible, they fully restored the original building facade, and rebuilt the sign and marquee to the specifications of the original architectural plans. The inside was converted into a modern industrial music hall, with great acoustics and superior sound quality as the primary goal. The lobby also functions as a café and bar, featuring locally-sourced meats, dairy, and produce as well as local craft beer and wine.
