We’re working with glassblower Sam Stark and architect Joe Seipel-Parks to develop our glassblowing studio and program. The glass studio will be located outdoors on the left side of the building, adjacent to the future home of Clayworks. We expect for the studio to be built in late 2022, and we look forward to offering our first glass studio workshops in 2023.

“I first saw glass blowing at five years of age, drawn to it like a moth to a flame. Fortune went my way at thirteen years of age when I began to blow glass. It was like running away to join the circus. In the right place at the right time, I was pulled into what became the Studio Art Glass movement, lead by Harvey Littleton. I had the good fortune to study with some of the most celebrated living glass blowers and artists of the 20th century.

Every day I learn from those experiences as I work glass in my studio. After 48 years of working glass, it is more exciting now than ever. I look forward to developing the glass studio at the Foothills Arts Center and bringing friends and colleagues from around the world to share my love of glass with this wonderful community.” — Sam Stark
