Where | 111 West Main St. in downtown Elkin. Access from the rear of the building off West Depot Alley.
Public Parking is located at the corner of West Depot Alley off South Front Street. Additional parking is available at East Depot Alley off South Bridge Street.
Details | Over the course of six weekly four-hour classes students will build a beautiful chest/bench using traditional woodworking tools and techniques and utilizing locally harvested wood. Students may choose to varnish or paint their finished project. Hand forged nails and strap hinges are included within the material costs.
Participants will Learn
How to square and smooth materials using traditional hand saws and planes
Simple joinery utilizing rabbets, dados, and rose head nails
How to plane and fit raised panels
How to create decorative molding using antique molding planes
How to use a frame saw to cut decorative feet
How to scrape and smooth their chest with cabinet scrapes
How to apply a traditional paint finish or varnish
Tuition $225 + Materials $150 = $375 Total Session Cost
Materials cost acts as registration fee. Students will be billed an additional payment of $225 for tuition after the semester begins. Tuition will be due net 30.
